What Does It Mean If Your Eyebrow Is Swollen

Apple Safari 4 everyday

I've been using for many months, the nightly builds of Firefox 3.1 , but wait too slow love - and 5 crashes per day are not the true. Consequently, I now look at the Safari 4 beta converted running in fact, pretty stable and fast.

Only: Out of the box "is missing from Firefox users spoiled quite a bit of functionality that can - at least for the Mac version and only at issue here - can be upgraded at no cost:
  1. AdBlock Plus ad blocker
  2. OpenSearch search box
  3. Consistent Tab handling
  4. loading bar
  5. Syncing of bookmarks
  6. touchpad gestures
Here Therefore, the 10-minute package for everyday use to the Safari umzubauen:

1) AdBlock Plus Werbeblocker
http://maltekraus.de/Firefox/adblock_site-specific-elemhiding.txt
So you really get everything out. Safari AdBlock is not quite as comfortable as the Firefox version, so can be removed quickly and permanently, or is not it from the filter. Regardless of the benefits here outweigh the disadvantages.

2) OpenSearch search box
Integrating OpenSearch for me was one of the killer arguments for Firefox to stay - to virtually the fast switching of the search box for other sources as Google: Amazon, eBay, IMDB, LEO, wikpedia - reaching all of these pages and search boxes thousand other in one click. Safari did not, and to some extent shocked I had to find it in the Safari 4 Beta is not implemented - even though Microsoft has incorporated the standard in the Explorer. My statement on this in the Heise Forum erhiehlt the comment: "no need anyway, is too complicated for Apple." Hm, yes. The same person probably would have said that three years ago tabs. The fact is that the function in Firefox is found too few - but whomever I see that she uses regularly and enthusiastically followed.
Funktioniert gut und retten den Alltag, was Apple should not stop them to implement finally OpenSearch.

3) Consistent Tab handling
If I have a browser that works with tabs I want, which is also open all in tabs. EVERYTHING. There is simply no reason for anything as a new browser window to open. Fortunately, you can teach this consistent behavior Safari: Just in Terminal issue this command:
defaults write com.apple.Safari TargetedClicksCreateTabs -Bool YES
4) loading bar
seems Safari 4 with every click first some Steve Jobs insert pause for - nothing happens and then hey presto itself it builds page on. Even if Steve can certainly do good: it disturbs. The effect of mE is a rather a psychological one: it does not stop somewhere doing something. The main reason is that the pretty blue loading bar was shut down for unknown reasons. This gives it back to sell the terminal:
defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSafari4IncludeToolbarRedesign-bool NO

defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSafari4LoadProgressStyle-bool NO
And you've got - psychological - the feeling of the Internet is again twice as fast.

5) Syncing of bookmarks
I do not trust MobileMe not for 5 minutes - that syncing between two Macs on a regular basis led to chaos. So I have the universal syncing bookmarks across all displayed on browsers and operating systems, this solution: Foxmarks . Worth - similar dropbox for storage - very different from the predicate MobileME: works discreetly and perfect.

6) touchpad gestures
Safari 4 supports the new touchpad is very scant. But even here you can tweak to enable smooth working. The starting point is the famous MultiClutch . This allows it to bend to any program regardless of the new touch pad gestures. Here are my settings for Safari 4:

This brings two very nice enhancements: Firefox 3.1 from the famous "jump to the bottom" and "jump to the top" three finger up / down. Even cooler, the turning gesture: two fingers turned to the right will open a new tab and focus the URL bar (see: 2). Equally compelling: made two finger left the active tab in the daily operation includes both gold worth.

Conclusion: if you elaborating on these points above, and something that you have practiced with the Safari 4 the fastest, coolest and most useful browser then also present.
What more could you want.
